Responsibilities

  • To undertake / complete assessments as required in line with the needs of the foster child(ren) and foster carers.

  • To undertake Form F Assessments as required by the Agency.

  • To have an understanding in relation to child care and fostering laws / Regulations / Standards.

  • To attend supervision of Foster Carers at their homes, including making initial visits to prospective foster carers.  

  • To attend review / planning / disruption/ placement support meetings and advocate on behalf of foster carers and children in placement.

  • To support Foster Carers where necessary regarding the placement(s).

  • To support carers with the admission of children / young people at the foster placement.

  • Liaison with the Manager/Operations Director/Care & Development Manager regarding any issues that arise / are reported at meetings. 

  • To work in partnership with the Admin / Team Support staff in order to provide feedback relating to assessments /meetings / appointments attended.

  • Write detailed reports following visits and meetings in line with policies and procedures of the Agency.

  • Attend / facilitate training to foster carers, as required.  

  • Ensure records and files are kept up to date in accordance with fostering regulations and the Agency’s policies and procedures.

  • Ensure statutory checks for approved foster carers are followed up and kept up to date in accordance with the relevant regulations and the Agency’s policies and procedures.

  • To liaise with Social Workers and other professionals in relation to foster carers and children placed in their care.

  • To work extra hours when required in order to support carers (this may be required at short notice).

  • Ensure own travel expense claims are submitted in line with the procedures of the agency (weekly / monthly basis).

Essential Requirements and skills

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and registration (to practise) with Social Work England. Such as, an Honours or postgraduate degree in social work.  

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • To have working knowledge of MS Office packages.

Desirable requirements and skills

  • A Full (UK) Driving Licence.

  • Empathetic nature to adequately understand clients’ predicaments and provide the necessary support.

  • Excellent organisational skills to successfully prioritise the many different aspects of the job.

  • Strong critical thinking to objectively evaluate each case and determine the best path of action.

  • Patience to successfully deal with complex cases and clients who may not progress as expected.

  • Superior emotional intelligence and maturity to cope with the emotional demands of the job.

  • Effective analysis, assessment and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering a ‘best practice’ support service, appropriate to the service user's needs.

  • Ensuring the delivery of individual personalised support packages, reflective of different service user’s needs, including culture and diversity issues.

  • Knowledge of ‘best practice’ in both crisis intervention and planned support working.

  • Providing the necessary support required for support workers to complete accurate, legible logs to contribute to the completion of weekly report summaries for our stakeholders.

  • Undertaking referrals and assessments of potential service users, working with them to identify the most appropriate support for the young person/child needs.

  • Provide supervision to support workers as relevant to your case allocation and in line with the service policy and procedures.

  • Promote and encourage a high level of service users’ involvement, consultation and communication.

Service Delivery
